Do you know the purpose of your life’s experiences?

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life was?

I mean what is the point of all the stuff you have been learning – the good stuff and the crappy stuff? Why do we have to experience it? What does it all mean?

Well, I recently completed a course in Transpersonal Coaching which is basically incorporating Spiritual Intelligence into Coaching – but what does that even mean?

Well..... in a nutshell, coaching asks you questions to uncover any limiting beliefs or patterns in your behaviour, to then help you move forward in the direction you want to move. Transpersonal coaching says OK, now that we have looked at the patterns, what might be the purpose of this experience? What can you learn from it, to ensure it doesn’t need to happen again.

In other words, every experience in our lives has a higher purpose. This includes the people we like and the people we don’t like, they are all there to teach us something about ourselves. By reflecting on this concept we actually increase our Spiritual Intelligence and therefore are more likely to feel connected to ourselves and the world around us.

Spiritual Intelligence doesn’t mean praying, crossing yourself or following a specific dogma. It means connecting to your purpose, your higher purpose that is your inner knowing, the part of you that is bigger than even you realise and acknowle3dging the part you play in the lives of othes as well.

Stop worrying about all the things that other people have done to you, because guess what? Im sure there are plenty of things you too have done to others. Start connecting to your inner knowing, your higher purpose and your higher power.

Danah Zohar was one of the people to publish the term Spiritual Intelligence. Her is an exert from her website defining Spiritual Intelligence .... http://dzohar.com/

What is the difference between IQ, EQ and SQ?

IQ is a measure of our rational, logical, rule-bound, abstract problem-solving intelligence and refers to a style of rational, goal-oriented thinking. In the mid-1990s, emotional intelligence (EQ) was increasingly seen as important: as Daniel Goleman defines it, EQ enables us to assess the situation we are in and then to behave appropriately within it, particularly to respond appropriately to the emotions of others.

What is common to both IQ and EQ is that both intelligences enable us to play within the boundaries—to play “finite games.  While spiritual intelligence (SQ), enables us to think “outside of the box” and to play with the boundaries—to play an “infinite game”. SQ is a transformative intelligence that allows us to break old paradigms and to invent new ones, to reframe problems and situations, to dissolve old patterns and to be open to finding new ones. SQ also represents our access to and need for deep meaning, fundamental values and a sense of purpose, and the extent to which these influence our decisions and actions.

To Danah, Q  symbolizes how our soul is constantly serving as a “cue” or compass to guide us to truth. If we learn to access and listen to our souls and hearts more, we can continuously use it as our “Q” to help us live happier professionally and personally.
This can be done by learning about our different Quotients that measure our intellectual (IQ), emotional (EQ),spiritual (SQ) and physical (PQ) intelligences. One way to do this is to learn the 12 principles of spiritual intelligence (SQ).

Your task;
1. Notice when you are using your IQ - knowledge
2. Notice when you are using your EQ - emotions
3. Notice when you are using your SQ - considering meaning & purpose

Have fun with it
