Hands up if you want your body to look better, feel better and perform better but cant be bothered, cant find the time, and frankly its all too hard?
Me too ......
Well ..... we have all heard it before ..... “we are what we eat” but
what if there is more to physical health than just food. What if our thoughts
affected our weight? What if our projection of always thinking we are fat,
actually contribute to our reality that we could be?.... ok, not fat just CHUNKY. Stop kidding yourself and wake up!
Imagine you were to create a mini-you that was small enough to take a journey through your own body - what would it look like? what scars would you find? where is it clogged? and what help does it need to feel fresher, lighter and stronger?
These are the questions that circulate in my mind, so let's take this 5 day challenge together ( what better day to start than today, right now)
1. Eat green
Here lies the nutrients and vitamins we
need to repair our cells. Within every
green food lies the life force and energy of the earth. Every time you consume
green, you are actually taking in all the nutrients provided by mother earth
(actually, perhaps a few pesticides have been added, unless organic, but we
will talk about this later.)
2. Have protein
snacks throughout the day
This doesn’t mean protein bars as they can
have more preservatives than fast food. What I mean is snack on chicken, fish, ham,
beef and almonds. Protein is needed by
your muscles for cell regeneration and unlike carbohydrates, these snacks don’t
leave you hungry 3min after you consume
them. Protein takes longer to break down in the body and therefore keeps you
full longer. This doesn’t mean you don’t eat carbs, it means snack on protein
not chips and biscuits.

3. Drink
plenty of water
Our body is actually 70% water, mostly in
the blood. Our veins and arteries are like the train tacks of our body and the
blood is the train. Carried inside the blood or train are all the nutrients we
need including oxygen. As they blood moves around the body, these nutrients are
dropped off like being dropped off at different train stations according to
where they are needed. Therefore the more we drink water, the more we support
our transport system and the more nutrients can pass around the body and be deposited
where needed.
4. Breathe
deeply
I don’t mean normal breathing, I mean deep
breathing. This is where you put your hand on your belly, breathe in and watch your
belly push out, you then breathe out and watch your belly pull in (not the
other way around). As you breathe in count to 4, then as you breathe out count to four - this elongates your breathe and allows for deeper breathing. Try it now to see what I mean. Often when we are stressed, we contract all our muscles
which effects our breathing. This is often referred to as shallow breathing. By
shallow breathing we are not allowing enough oxygen to enter the brain and
muscles, and then we wonder why in times of stress we feel so tired. You see,
oxygen when combined with glucose produces energy known at ATP. Now I’m not
going to get all technical on you, the point being oxygen is needed for energy –
if you are feeling tired, take the time to have 3 DEEP Breathes and notice how
much lighter you feel.
5. Stretch
every day
Notice I didn’t say exercise, I said stretch.
You can call this yoga, Pilates or any other form of stretching. The reason
stretching is so important is because each day we are accumulating toxins in
our body, either from the pesticides in food or the radiation of our electrical
and technical age. Either way, we need to get rid of these toxins by stretching
and moving. This combined with lots of what actually helps to eliminate these
toxins. With specific stretches we lengthen, strengthen and support our body by
taking pressure off our joint and better aligning our energy centres. I highly
recommend attending a yoga class twice a week as a minimum. Did you now YOGA
actually means YOKE , like the yoke of an egg. The point being that yoke binds
things together as does yoga – it is the joining of spirit and matter through
breath.

Of course there are many other things you can do to create a
healthier you, however I hope these tips help by prioritising how to be a
master of your own physical health. If you have any questions or would like to
add to this, please let me know.
With love and light
