Share your voice

Well, for the past few days cicadas have been following me around - not in noise but literally flying into me.

For some this might be quite an exciting period however for those who know me, while I love nature, I am happy to hear cicadas and not see them. In fact it would be safe to say I dont like them at all.

 Unfortunately or fortunately they have decided each night to fly in the window of my house and taunt me for the evening by sitting in my lamp shades and then flying around my head.

Acknowledging my ridiculous fear .....
 i would say a prayer, love them and then remove myself from the room, locking my bedroom door just in case they thought of coming in..... in the morning i would emerge tentatively scanning the room...... ahhhh ... miraculously gone and the coast is clear.

Hours later I would see an upside down cicada on the floor in my lounge room ..... I try to pick it up to take it outside and give it back to the earth but it is tricking me and continues to fly around my head - what is the message here? why are they challenging me like this?

I gather the courage to get a plastic container, cover it then put a lid on it and carefully take it outside as it flutters inside the container ... Ok ... so i squeeled in the process .... but I released it ... and it is gone .... including the container because I actually through everything over the balcony ... we all have our limitations .....  ahhh, a sigh of relief .... bless... I survived and so did the cicada.

The next night the same thing and then the next ... what is the message I am missing? The message the universe is sending me?

Cicada Totem

The Cicada is a symbol of rebirth and longevity. People with this totem are strong communicators and often find rewarding opportunities as the result of patience and persistence. Their callings sometimes come later in life after a period of seclusion. Cicada teaches communication through music - it's song is easily recognizable and noticed by others. Cicada also speaks of the ability to "shed one's skin" and emerge as something new and different in life. Coming out of your shell and expressing yourself authentically are themes of this totem.

Personal Reflection...

Cicada remains underground for much of its life before emerging. When cicada appears to you it speaks of a need to come out from hiding, to break free of what restricts you. Cicada loses its shell and symbolizes our ability to come out from the shadows and let our inner being break free from oppression. Cicada has a distinctive sound all its own - use cicada's wisdom to inspire you to share your own voice.

Maybe my time is about to arrive ........ Maybe it is time for you to share the wisdom of your voice too.
